Keychron keyboards are held in high regard next to Corsair and other major brands but are relatively unknown when it comes to gaming mice. Following the successful release of the company's wired M1 mouse, the Keychron M3 (available at Keychron) Wireless Mouse combines some of the best features from the M1) and draws inspiration from other top-tier mice like the Logitech G305 Lightspeed Wireless and the Glorious Model O 2 Wireless. With Keychron's focus on durability, customization, and ease of use, this is one of the best gaming mice you can get for under $50.

I wasn't expecting Keychron's M3 Wireless Mouse to have an impact on my day-to-day use. I love Logitech's MX Masters 3S and no other mouse has come close to its overall experience. The M3 was my daily driver for over a week and I enjoyed every second of it. My 9-to-5 job, writing this review, and gaming—I never experienced discomfort thanks to the M3's ergonomic design.

The textured pattern along the sides allowed me to comfortably use the mouse in either of my hands. The mouse is designed for right-handed persons but you can still fully use the M3 with your left hand if you slightly adjust your grip. Being left-handed, to effectively use the mouse and all its buttons, I had to position my pinky and ring finger on the corresponding forward and back buttons. I adjusted without issue but will say it's a more comfortable experience with your right hand.

There are eight buttons on the mouse. The left and right click buttons straddle the scroll wheel and a dedicated RGB button. The RGB button lets you cycle through six distinct RGB patterns. Along the left side of the mouse are dedicated forward and back buttons. On the bottom you have dedicated DPI and Report Rate control buttons and a slider that lets you switch from Bluetooth to USB adapters or simply turn off the mouse.

You can change the color of your mouse at will.

If the default setup is not to your liking, you can fully customize your experience. Similar to the Glorious Model O 2 Wireless, you can customize the default RGB lighting presets and remap the buttons to create a unique experience for creators, gamers, and general users alike. This freedom of customization also aids in creating a more usable experience if you are a left-handed user.

The M3 is a durable mouse. Using my "patent-pending" three-foot drop test on hardwood, tile, and carpet flooring, there were no discernible performance or cosmetic issues after picking it up and using it with my computer.

The battery life is good depending on your use. The M3 can be used for up to 70 hours with RGB turned off or 15 hours with RGB on. In my use, I was able to hit both those targets without issue. When gaming I used the mouse wired, which keeps the battery charged and gives me the best performance possible.

If you like to tinker with customization options, the M3's software application lets you remap the mouse buttons, create macros, and adjust pointer size and sensor performance, among other things. Right now the software is only compatible with Windows 10/11, but there is a macOS version coming in June 2023.

Whether for gaming or productivity, the Keychron M3 Wireless Mouse poses a real threat to competitors; it offers the same major features as other household names for the same or less.

Logitech's $50 G305 Lightspeed Wireless and Glorious’ $80 Model O Wireless gaming mice have similar features as the M3, customizable RGB, programmable keys, and good battery life, but Keychron outshines both by including a host of accessories in the box: Type-A and Type-C dual receivers, extension adapter, USB Type-A to USB Type-C adapter, and a USB-C cable.

Sure, those Logitech and Glorious mice have longer battery lives, but the Keychron M3 provides much more overall value.
